More than 500 Fairfax staff this week rejected the company’s offer which divided staff into three groups with no guaranteed pay rise for those on $100,000+ salary. Our counter claim (read more...) was presented today to the company’s representatives, Don Churchill and Lloyd Whish-Wilson. |

Just And Print Super To Merge |

Just Super, the industry super fund for media, entertainment and arts professional merges with Print Super on July 1 to become Media Super. The new fund will manage assets of close to $3 billion and will have over 110,000 members across the printing, media, entertainment and arts industries. NSW Govt Lets Down Film & TV Crew |

The Alliance condemns the NSW Government's failure to deliver on Premier Morris Iemma's promises to revitalise the film industry in New South Wales. Additional funds for the film and television industry in last week's budget would have been a signal that Iemma and his government take the industry seriously. But no additional allocation was announced and the industry is still awaiting his reforms. Read full press release here. Last month the Alliance launched Lights, Camera, More action! - a campaign to bring the NSW film incentives in line with other states. |

A disturbing picture of overwork with little compensation has emerged at Fairfax Media's metropolitan newspapers and associated websites, according to results of the 2008 workplace survey. View the results here. The workplace survey was completed by 441 Fairfax staff and is the basis of draft log of claims for the upcoming collective agreement negotiations. Negotiations with management are scheduled for Wednesday June 11 in Sydney. |
